Custom FR4 PCB Manufacturing Without Guesswork

FR4 is not one universal laminate. We convert electrical, thermal and mechanical requirements into a controlled material, stack-up, copper build and finished-board specification.

Material imageFR4 laminate, core and prepreg
01 Material system

FR4 Material, Laminate, Substrate and Core Options

A rigid FR4 PCB combines copper foil, cured glass-epoxy core and prepreg. LZJPCB records the selected material grade and construction in the approved stack-up so purchasing, engineering and production use one definition.

Standard FR4

General industrial, control, consumer and instrumentation boards.

High-Tg FR4

Higher thermal margin for demanding assembly and operating conditions.

Halogen-Free FR4

Selected when the product specification requires halogen-free material.

RCC / Mixed Stack-Up

Used where HDI or combined electrical performance needs another dielectric.

02 Mechanical fit

Choose FR4 PCB Thickness and Lock the Tolerance Before Production

Finished board thickness affects connector fit, rigidity, impedance and stack-up. LZJPCB supports FR4 PCB thickness from 0.20 mm to 17.50 mm. Nominal thickness and tolerance are controlled on the approved fabrication drawing.

  • Thickness is measured during final inspection.
  • Connector interfaces and card guides drive finished thickness.
  • High-copper builds require stack-up balance review.
  • Tight tolerance is confirmed before production release.

03 Thermal selection

Select the Right FR4 Tg Class

Tg is the glass-transition temperature of the laminate system. It is not the PCB's continuous operating-temperature rating.

Tg 135

Standard class

Tg 150–155

Mid-Tg class

Tg 170–180

High-Tg class

  • Match Tg to your soldering profile and product environment.
  • High-layer-count boards often need mid-Tg or high-Tg materials.
  • Material claims trace to the laminate supplier datasheet.

Buyer questions

FR4 PCB FAQs for Buyers and Engineers

Short answers to the material and sourcing questions that remain after capability review.

An FR4 PCB is a rigid printed circuit board manufactured with glass-reinforced, flame-retardant epoxy laminate as its insulating base. Copper circuitry is patterned on the laminate, while drilled and plated holes connect layers and components.
FR4 combines woven fiberglass reinforcement with a cured epoxy resin system. Copper-clad FR4 adds copper foil. Multilayer boards use cured FR4 cores and prepreg sheets that bond the layers during lamination.
FR4 provides a strong balance of electrical insulation, mechanical rigidity, dimensional stability, manufacturability, material availability and cost. It supports a wide range of layer counts, thicknesses, copper weights and finishes.
Both use glass fabric and epoxy resin. FR4 is specified for flame-retardant electrical applications, while G10 is primarily a mechanical-laminate designation and does not automatically provide the same flame-rating evidence.
Standard FR4 is rigid and is not the flexible dielectric of an FPC. In rigid-flex construction, FR4 can form rigid sections. It may also be used as a localized stiffener when the approved FPC structure calls for it.
An FR4 PCB is a finished, patterned circuit board. FR4 sheet is raw laminate stock. A production panel contains one or more PCB units during fabrication. Unclad FR4 is laminate without bonded copper. LZJPCB supplies manufactured FR4 PCBs rather than raw sheet as a material retailer.
