Buyer questions

PCB Assembly FAQ You Need Before Ordering

Answers about PCB assembly services, files, cost, lead time and production quantities.

What is PCB assembly?

PCB assembly is the process of attaching and soldering electronic components to a fabricated printed circuit board, then inspecting and testing the resulting PCBA against an accepted production package.

What is the difference between PCB fabrication and PCB assembly?

PCB fabrication produces the bare circuit board with copper features, holes, laminate and surface finish. PCB assembly adds components through SMT, through-hole or mixed processes and produces the populated PCBA.

What is turnkey PCB assembly?

Turnkey PCB assembly assigns one supplier to coordinate the accepted PCB fabrication, component sourcing, assembly, inspection and testing scope. Full, partial and consigned models differ by who supplies each material line.

What files are required for PCB assembly?

Submit Gerber or ODB++, drill and fabrication drawings, BOM, centroid or Pick-and-Place data, assembly drawings, quantity, approved-alternate rules and test requirements.

How much does PCB assembly cost?

The fixed quote is calculated from the PCB, BOM, sourcing model, setup, placement count, packages, SMT/THT work, inspection, testing, quantity and accepted schedule.

How long does PCB assembly take?

The quotation issues one fixed ship date after files, BOM availability, material responsibility, assembly route, test scope and quantity are accepted. A generic duration is not used in place of the project schedule.

Can you support prototype, low-volume and high-volume PCB assembly?

Yes. LZJPCB supports prototype, low-volume and repeat volume assembly. Each stage uses a defined quantity, BOM status, inspection plan, test scope and change-control rule.

Ready to quote a PCB assembly project?

Send the production files, BOM, centroid, drawings, quantity, sourcing model and test requirements.
